6 Health Benefits of Weight Lifting
Helloooo my loves. Today I want to talk to you guys about one of the single most important ways to build muscle and tone your body: STRENGTH TRAINING… more specifically weight lifting. Many of you guys often ask me how to get definition in yours abs, arms and legs and the secret is really to lift weights. A common misconception many people have is that weight lifting bulks you up and makes you bigger. Let us please just clear this ridiculous claim up now because it frustrates me so much!!!! Lifting weights does the opposite of bulking you, it makes you stronger, leaner and more TONED. What bulks you up is 100% your diet and what you are putting into your body. I have listed six benefits of weight training below. Please read and let me know what you guys think!
Weight training allows you to burn more calories and replaces the fat on your body with MUSCLE. So you are burning more calories but possibly will go up on the scale because muscle weighs more than fat.
Gain strength and tone your body without bulking. If you are eating a high protein diet during training you will lean out and your muscles begin to show all over your body (abs, legs, arms, butt, etc).
Increases your metabolism because you are adding lean muscle tissue which will increase your resting metabolic rate causing you to burn more calories throughout the day.
Makes you look younger and decreases your risk of osteoporosis. Weight lifting increases bone mass which usually decreases as we age so by lifting weights you are working to reverse that.
Improve posture and reduce back pain if exercises are done with proper form. Making sure you use good alignment when lifting is just as important as actually lifting because you can really hurt yourself if you don’t lift the weights correctly. Make sure your first experiences with weights are with a fitness professional who can show you the proper form
Enhance mood and reduce stress levels. Weight lifting will definitely help your mental health because it’s an enormous accomplishment for your mind and body when you finish a vigorous lifting session. It also releases endorphins, helps fight depression and gives you a healthy feel-good routine to do consistently.
I really hope these benefits encourage you guys to make weight lifting a part of your fitness routine! Let me know if you have any questions and comment in the comment section below!
